The Goal of the City of Fort Wayne is to become the safest City of our size in the United States of America. It is the mission of the Fort Wayne Fire Department to prevent the loss of life and to control or reduce the loss of property by applying all of our professional knowledge and resources. We will accomplish this mission through fire suppression, rescue, code enforcement, public education, fire investigation, and professional development training. It is our number one priority to provide the best fire service to all citizens and visitors to our great city.

Make Prevention Efforts Equal To Response Efforts
The Fort Wayne Fire Department should make a public statement that prevention is an equal priority with our efforts toward fire suppression. As there is an Assistant Chief in charge of fire suppression, there is also one in charge of Fire Prevention. Every individual on the Fort Wayne Fire Department is involved and dedicated to efforts of fire prevention.

The new position of Assistant Chief of Prevention will over see Fire Prevention Division, Safety Village, along with Investigation Division. This staff will provide research as well as develop and present a variety of programs concerning fire safety.
